Chef Danielle Alvarez's new cookbook, Recipes for a Lifetime of Beautiful Cooking, brings together the influences that have formed her cooking life into one volume of recipes for home cooking. It covers her Miami childhood and Cuban family recipes, her formative years at legendary produce-driven Californian restaurant Chez Panisse, and the time she's spent in Australia since becoming founding chef at Fred's in Sydney.
To mark the book's release, she'll appear at Scrumptious Reads for an intimate chat about the inspirations behind the book's recipes, and how she cooks beautiful food at home for family and friends. She'll also demonstrate how to make a flaky pastry and turn it into a pissaladiere (a French flatbread), a dish she learnt to cook at Chez Panisse.
At the end of the event, Alvarez will stick around for a book signing.
Tickets are free, but bookings are essential.
