Caxton Street Comedy Festival
One of Brisbane’s iconic drags, Caxton Street, will celebrate the Sunshine State’s vibrant comedy scene this spring with a day-long festival devoted to talent from both Queensland and beyond.
Caxton Street Comedy Festival will take place on October 19, and will feature standup sets across four venues, live podcasts and a variety of street shows.
The all-dayer is drawing some big names, including Michael Hing, known for his biting political comedy and fresh from a stint hosting The Project. Also on the bill, and coming from interstate, is Geraldine Hickey with her witty takes on the horrors of planning a milestone birthday and getting talked into having a big wedding by a Byron tarot card reader.
Elsewhere, Nick Cody and Luke Heggie will record a live version of their Mid Flight Brawl podcast. Also appearing is Chris Ryan, famous for taking bin chickens down a peg and talking about all her mates becoming “hot nans”.
Among the local talent is Jo Gowda, who will be on hand to espouse the beauty of Brisbane and chat about what it was like to move to the city from Bangalore.
And if that’s not enough, Caxton Street Brewing Co is producing a beer especially for the occasion – The Tight Five.
