Botanica: Contemporary Art Outside
Brisbane’s original, riverside botanic gardens are heritage-listed, with a rare collection of cycads, palms, figs and bamboo. If that isn’t enough reason for you to visit, a new 10-day exhibition might change your mind.
Botanica is a dazzling display of contemporary art installations lighting up the City Botanic Gardens. It features nine new artworks from leading artists, including Hiromi Tango, Simone Eisler, Georgie Pinn, Esem Projects, Charlotte Haywood, Jenna Lee, Kellie O’Dempsey, Paul Bai and Georgia Hillas.
Expect eye-catching installations and sensory, interactive art. The immersive all-ages experience includes projections and performances from local artists, a designated discovery trail for kids to play with micro-projections of native animals, food trucks, live music and a pop-up bar.
Plus, more experiences are being announced closer to the date, including artists workshops, guided tours, mindfulness activities, spoken word, poetry slam nights and live drawing performances.
