Hang on to your hats, Brisbane – the enormously popular Brick Bar pop-up is finally coming to town. A plasticky boozer made up of one million bricks, it became a phenomenon when it hit Melbourne and Sydney earlier this year.
“It’s nostalgic and this bar is designed to bring out the kid in all of us,” Demi Montgomery, the bar's creative director, told Broadsheet in January.
The Brisbane edition will take place at the Story Bridge Hotel with multiple 90 minute sessions running over the course of Saturday January 12. If it’s anything like Melbourne and Sydney, you can expect brick sculptures, a brick bath and a huge pile of extra bricks from which you can make your own creations.
The event includes table tennis, a build competition and local DJs spinning tunes. The bar will serve brick-inspired cocktails along with other refreshing beverages served in nifty brick keep cups. The Story Bridge is also throwing a ball pit party the same day, because why not (yes, you can buy tickets to both at the below link).
While the Brick Bar pop-up is all about celebrating the plastic construction blocks everyone remembers from their childhood, it’s also careful to note on its website that it has no association with Denmark’s Lego®. Got it? Good.
