Last year, Melt Festival burst onto the scene with a bang. There was a river parade helmed by Courtney Act, thousands of naked people lying on the asphalt of Story Bridge for a grand photograph taken by Spencer Tunick, and performances from Confidence Man and Sophie Ellis-Bextor.

Melt is a celebration of the LGBTQIA+ community and its allies, so naturally, the first artist announced for 2025 is Bernadette Peters. Peters is a Broadway darling. She’s won Tony awards and Golden Globes and been nominated for Grammys and Emmys. She’s also known for her charity work, particularly with Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, which provides services for those living with AIDS and HIV.

Peters’s performance at Melt will be her first Australian performance in over a decade. She’ll be joined by Camerata, Queensland’s Chamber Orchestra.
