Cult classic Labyrinth is being screened this Sunday at GOMA. Brought to life by Muppet Show and Fraggle Rock creator Jim Henson, the film was met with mixed reviews upon its initial release in 1986, but became celebrated in later years for its puppetry, animatronics and a scene-stealing performance by David Bowie.
The story follows a teenage girl (Jennifer Connelly) navigating the titular labyrinth after her baby brother is taken by the Goblin King (Bowie). The film was part of a wave of fantasy-quest flicks in the 1980s that included Dark Crystal, The Neverending Story, The Princess Bride and Willow, among many others.
If David Bowie isn’t your cup of tea or you just want to see something else, GOMA will be screening other classics such as Back To The Future, Time Bandits and Inception as part of its Perceptions of Time exhibition.
