If you can’t afford to hit the ski slopes this winter, chuck on a pair of skates instead in the Brisbane CBD during June and July.

Skating At Festivals – featuring a line-up of food, drinks and family-friendly entertainment – is returning to Brisbane in 2019, with the Air Canada Ice Rink popping up in King George Square.

Put your balance to the test under the fairy lights, and listen to chill tunes as you basically try not fall over on the ice. Kids can grab onto a “kanga” skate aid too, for some extra support. Those who are a little more daring can snow tube down an icey ramp called The Runway.

Parents can warm up with drinks at the Alpine Bar, and the Winter Night Market will have local stalls for dinner and dessert after dark.

Entry to the rinks is free, but the 45-minute skating sessions are ticketed; an adult skate will cost you $28, children skate for $20 and the whole family can hit the ice for $90. The ticket price includes skate hire.

Skating At Festival will pop-up in King George Square from June 21 to July 14. You can purchase tickets here.
