Beloved American actor, comedian and writer Bill Murray (Groundhog Day, Lost in Translation) has announced he will tour with German-born classical cellist Jan Vogler and “friends” this year in Sydney, Perth, Brisbane and Melbourne.
The Brisbane show is taking place on Friday November 16 at the QPAC Concert Hall.
The show, called New Worlds, is based on Murray and Vogler’s 2017 album release of the same name, which mixes classical music (Ravel, Schubert, Saint-Saëns and Bach) with writing from American greats including Ernest Hemingway and Walt Whitman. The show came about after a chance meeting in an airport security line between Murray and Vogler. Murray describes it as “the collision of America and Europe.”
The ensemble also includes Vogler’s wife, renowned violinist Mira Wang, and pianist Vanessa Perez.
The pre-sale begins on Wednesday February 14 at 9am. Tickets will go on sale to the general public on Monday February 19 at 9am.
