Good news: the Brisbane Food Trucks program will continue after an eight-month trial period, the council has confirmed – which means many of your favourite meals on wheels will continue to serve from prime locations around town.

The Brisbane Food Trucks website was launched in July last year, allowing customers to search locations, menus and opening hours for local food trucks. The idea was to inject life into various public spaces around Brisbane while allowing operators to expand across some quality real estate. (Food trucks are not allowed to sell their goods from sites that impact nearby permanent food businesses or obstruct public access to facilities).

Forty-one trucks are currently part of the program, including The Bun Mobile, Rolls Pho Mi, Kraut N’ About, The Bone Lorry and Juan More Taco.

Favoured spots around the city include a shared zone on Albert Street, the City Botanic Gardens, and River Terrace atop the Kangaroo Point Cliffs. Orleigh Park and New Farm Park have also proven popular. Feedback from vendors and the public has helped shape future operations and locations. Minor details from the trial have been altered, but overall the program will be much the same.
