On Friday afternoon, Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk announced that the state’s coronavirus restrictions are easing significantly next week.

From 4pm on Tuesday November 17, indoor venues will be able to have one person per two square metres – instead of the current one person per four square metres. This includes restaurants, cafes, pubs, clubs, museums, art galleries and more.

Gatherings in homes and public spaces will increase from 40 to 50 people across the state, and up to 200 people will be able to attend weddings and funerals.

Outdoor event capacities will also increase – from 1000 to 1500, with a Covid-safe checklist or plan – and outdoor dancing will be allowed. Plus, open-air stadiums will be able to increase their seated capacity from 75 per cent to 100 per cent.
