Emojis are about to make the leap from screens to your number plate.

At least that’s what Personalised Plates Queensland hopes with what it’s calling a “world first concept”; in March, the company will release a new range of emoji-themed number plates developed under licence with the Emoji Company.

Queensland drivers will be able to choose from five designs, including the classic smiley face, heart eyes, sunglasses face, winking face and the laugh-out-loud emoji. The emojis will sit on the end of otherwise standard and slim-line number plates, with three letters and two numbers on a white-on-black background.

The new emoji plates will be available from March 1. More information here.
