Brisbane bus drivers will strike again on Wednesday as the Rail, Tram and Bus Union continues its fight with the Brisbane City Council over safer buses, wage increases and rostering changes.

The RTBU advised the council yesterday that some drivers would participate in industrial action between 10am and 2pm tomorrow.

The move follows two previous rounds of strikes; drivers walked off the job between 4.30am and 6.30am Tuesday and Wednesday July 18 and 19, and Friday afternoon’s industrial action caused commuter chaos in Brisbane. On Thursday, many union-member drivers offered commuters free fares.

The council issued a statement yesterday afternoon urging commuters who usually travel between 10am and 2pm on Wednesdays to “plan ahead or make alternative arrangements”.

The RTBU is scheduled to meet with the council again today.
