Topless barber cuts could become a thing of the past at 320 George Street in the CBD, when the Grosvenor Hotel is replaced by a 30-storey tower.
The Grosvenor Topless Bar and Strip Club currently occupies the heritage-listed hotel that was built between 1881 and 1882. The facade of the hotel will remain at the base of the new structure. The site was purchased in 2010 for $4.4 million.
Developer Lionmar Holdings is planning a mixed use building featuring bars, cafes, underground parking and a rooftop bar on level 29. Two residential penthouse apartments are also included in the plan. As reported by the Brisbane Times it’s understood the owner intends to live in one of the penthouses with his family.
The Grosvenor’s lease expires in 2020, with three five-year options. It’s unknown if the Grosvenor will have its lease honoured in the new development.
