Parts of George Street in the CBD have been closed off after a driver struck pedestrians and crashed into a kerb, the Brisbane Times reports. A police spokesperson told the Times that the driver of the car likely suffered a medical episode.
The car hit three people crossing the road outside the Treasury Casino at the entrance to the Queen Street Mall, the Courier Mail reports. It then came to a rest on the footpath outside the St George Bank on the corner of George Street and the Queen Street Mall.
“Please be advised that George St and Elizabeth St are blocked in Brisbane City due to a traffic crash. Please avoid the area,” the Queensland Police Service announced in a Facebook post. “Delays expected.”
Paramedics and police remain on the scene.
