It’s just one of four new crossings planned for the Brisbane River.

The Brisbane City Council has revealed designs for the planned pedestrian and cycle bridge connecting Kangaroo Point with the CBD.

The renderings illustrate a single-mast suspension cable bridge with a viewing platform. The bridge will connect Scott Street in Kangaroo Point with Alice Street and the Botanic Gardens, and will include shade along its entire length.

The bridge is part of the council’s Green Bridges program , which will build bridges linking Toowong and West End, St Lucia and West End, Bellbowrie and Wacol, and an extra crossing for Breakfast Creek where it meets the Brisbane River. All are intended for cyclists and pedestrians.

Council has announced it will fast-track the Kangaroo Point bridge to have it completed by late 2023, two years earlier than expected.
