The Bruce Highway is getting a $150 million upgrade, the Courier Mail reports.

The project will be announced by Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull in what is expected to be the first in a series of major infrastructure projects in this year’s budget.

The $150 million will go towards alleviating a bottleneck at Murrumba Downs, creating a northbound entry and southbound exit for the highway at the Dohles Rocks Road interchange.

The announcement is conveniently timed after an Easter weekend that once again saw motorists on the Bruce Highway dealing with heavy congestion between Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast.

The $150 million will be in addition to $530 million already being spent by the federal government on upgrades on the highway between Caboolture and Steve Irwin Way.
