Bad news, fans of physical media. Brisbane's last dedicated video rental store will close in March, the ABC reports.

Oxley Network Video took to social media on Wednesday to share the news of the closure.

“It is with great regret and sadness that I share this letter with all of you,” read a Facebook post written by store owner Brenton Snell. “But I am so thankful for the opportunity that this store gave us as friends, customers and staff to create a community that will continue on past our closure date in many other forms.”

Snell bought the shop in 2010 and only expected it to last three years. “The reality was the timeline just kept getting pushed back and pushed back and the videos never sort of really died,” he told ABC Radio Brisbane.

The store will still rent to customers for now but will begin selling off its 14,000-strong library later this month.
