Picnic
The heiress to a hospitality dynasty that at one point spanned four cafes and two restaurants (including Pawpaw and Mons Ban Sabai), Giorgina Venzin was always eager to branch out on her own. Picnic, the young restaurateur’s second solo venture, continues her family’s reputation for fresh, flavoursome food, this time with a focus on healthy brunches.
Served on sweetly coloured plates atop communal picnic tables, the vibrant, all-day breakfast menu features basket loads of seasonal produce. Smoked Wagyu brisket with beetroot hummus, granola with coyo (coconut yoghurt) and Amazonian açaí bowls are best paired with a chai and banana smoothie or cold-pressed juice. Don't miss the Seminyak: quinoa nasi goreng with pork belly, shrimp and wake-me-up sambal sauce.
Lunchtime once trumpeted the pan-Asian flavours the Venzin family is best known for. These days the five-dish offering is less exciting, featuring beef and falafel burgers, a salmon salad and pulled-pork Cuban sandwich.
Big-name beers and a handful of light wines are served after 10:30am. BYO wine is also welcome.
