U&I Espresso
Features
U & I Espresso is the work of a former business management student Sacha Muchall, a passionate hospitality veteran. After stints at a boutique roaster and at various Brisbane restaurants, Muchall took on the former Stop Sixteen site and gave his cafe a name that could pass as a Prince track.
Fitted out with a casual retro-style interior of floral couches and paisley stools, U & I makes it easy to unwind. Want a table? Slide into a church pew and park yourself and your newspaper or tablet on an old wooden school desk.
Expect to find reliable brunch dishes named after affable pop culture figures. Sit down to a serving of Nacho Libre (quesadillas with feta, cheddar, coriander, jalapeno and sundried tomato) or go for the smashed avocado sourdough, appropriately named The Hulk. If you’re a sweet tooth, the Belgian waffles with vanilla ice cream are a delight, named after Belgium’s most glamorous export, Audrey Hepburn.
Drinks include an olive green matcha latte, or honey-infused oat milk chai tea. The espresso part of the cafe’s name is represented by medium-bodied Dramanti house blend, plus a range of single origins.
