Need to refuel? Roll into Stalled Espresso, a cafe that brings effortless cool and neighbourly vibes to Albion’s auto mechanic heartland. Stalled makes industrial feel friendly – owners James and Kirstie Rennell renovated the space themselves with the help of local businesses.
Beneath the cafe’s high ceilings and exposed rafters, cheery terrariums and succulents dot the shelves, baked goods line the counter and a crowd-pleasing mix of newspapers and magazines are stacked at wooden communal tables.
Stalled is a great spot to catch up on some reading over a coffee and a guilt-free Nodo doughnut (gluten-free, baked not fried). If you’re after more than a snack, check out the simple but satisfying menu, offering staples such as avocado toast; egg and bacon muffins; and banana bread (all for under $10 on weekdays) and fresh daily salad specials.
There’s a real community feel here – it’s the kind of place where the staff remember your order, and its proximity to a dance school and rugby club makes it a great family-friendly spot.
