Sweets lovers, prepare yourselves. Jocelyn’s Provisions is a place where you might feel a little overwhelmed with choice. This bakery and grocery store was founded by pastry queen Jocelyn Hancock, who sold up in 2009 and later opened Cake & Bake, and now has four locations in Brisbane.

Whether you visit Camp Hill, Albion, the CBD or the bakery's swish location by the Calile Hotel in Fortitude Valley, you can expect biscuits, pastries, cakes, housemade muesli, preserves and ready-to-go meals. It’s not a sit-in affair, though; the hungry grab dinner on the way home, or pick up sugar fix to beat that mid-afternoon slump.

Try blonde brownies, a fairer variation on the traditional chocolate, which team chunks of white chocolate with macadamia nuts. Other options include chocolate ganache tarts and flaky, fruit-filled Danish pastries. Gluten free customers need not worry – there are plenty of treats in that niche.

If savoury is more your style, you’re also covered. Head baker Phil Agnew and his team arrive at 3am every morning and bake their loaves, which ferment slowly overnight and are served fresh and warm in the morning; the sourdough with butter is hard to beat.

Fridges are stacked with ready-to-eat meals such as smoked ham hock soup; and sherry-roasted chicken with spinach and garlic, making cooking at home yourself seem far less appealing.
