Sisters Emily Jolliffe and Erin McMahon revitalised the phrase “do the honours” when they opened their cafe across from New Farm Park. The name is no accident: the value underpins their entire approach – from food to service – and helps them attract plenty of customers.
The remodelled courtyard was designed by McMahon’s husband, architect Mark Fraser, with wooden bench seating to capitalise on the view. The flower-filled space is fresh, modern and makes the most of Brisbane's climate.
The kitchen delivers a fresh, unfussy menu from unrefined raw foods to home-style cooking. House specialties include dairy-free Bircher muesli and a large sharing plate of breakfast dishes called the “Honor Board”, epitomising the sharing and grazing style the sisters favour.
The gluten-free, grain, and fruit and nut breads are all housemade, while the sourdough and croissants are sourced from Crust & Co. Coffee is supplied by Veneziano.
The venue is open every day until 3pm, and the staff is happy for you to linger over your coffee and cake while they close up. It’s that kind of place.
