Peter Shaw has worked everywhere from suburban fine diners (he cut his teeth at the iconic Tables of Toowong), to luxury overseas yachts cooking for celebrities such as Oprah Winfrey, but his heart lies with deli-style food. Hobby Lane used to be Delicatezza, which Shaw had been running since 2010, but the chef refurbished it and opened new in April 2018.

Shaw has kept crowd favourites such as the corn fritters and the signature ricotta hotcakes. There’s also a mushroom toastie with haloumi and romesco sauce designed as an alternative to a typical breakfast burger.

Drinks are straightforward, with Toby’s Estate coffee backed by a bunch of juices, shakes and Calmer Sutra chai tea.
