After starting out mobile, The Doughnut Bar van set up shop opposite Central Station in early 2015. Owners Leigh Devlin and Pete Jermyn both come from a gourmet pastry background, and they are unapologetically inspired by childhood favourites, vintage lollies, and keeping things fun.
Doughnut Bar doughnuts are of the yeasted variety (light and buttery) and they come coated in fun flavours. Take the Movie Night – it’s a classic yeast doughnut stuffed with salted caramel, topped with yet more caramel, a drizzle of chocolate ganache, and a pile of caramel popcorn.
You may have tasted this approach at Hamilton’s Eat Street Markets, where Devlin and Jermyn made a name with their hot gluten-free doughnuts, and at Eat Street and Eumundi, where they appeared as Chocolate Komberry Co.
But really, what’s better than a permanent, reliable location?
