Dandelion and Driftwood
Back in 2010, when most people didn’t know their pour-over from their AeroPress, Dandelion & Driftwood was already offering specialty coffee. It was one of the first cafes in Brisbane to do so, in fact.
Today, D&D’s husband-and-wife team, Peter and Penny Wolff, have built on this early lead. They roast their own coffee as Wolff Coffee Roasters and offer two house blends and two rotating single origins, extracted by one of six methods.
For newcomers, it might be intimidating, but rest assured, D&D’s expertise is backed by plenty of helpful information, including tasting notes, bean origin, growing altitude and roasting methods. If you get lost, the Wolffs are happy to help out.
From the outside, the cafe has all the kitsch charm of a vintage ice-creamery. Inside, it’s old-world industrial. Some will love sitting at the bar getting familiar with the coffee processes. Those with no time can take advantage of the espresso cart parked out the front, manned by baristas in bow ties.
While coffee is king, there’s a food menu focusing on hearty, simple dishes, such as corn-and-zucchini fritters served with scrambled eggs, avocado and toasted pine nuts.
