With Abode Cafe, owner Bron Jukes wanted to create a tranquil home away from home. For her, the place is as much about warming hearts as it is about filling stomachs. Housed in the 1930s-era Hillsdon Road Centre, its rustic timber floors and lush pot plants add to this mission, fusing charm with cosiness.

Most items on Abode Cafe’s menu are made in-house, from the granola to the jams, with much of it available for purchase from a provisions shelf.

Classic breakfasts are given whimsical spins inspired by Jukes's happy childhood memories. The slow-cooked beef and pork mince on sourdough, topped with sweet corn, spring onions and chilli jam is an Abode mainstay in honour of a mate who just loves mince on toast.

Cold pressed juices, teas, milkshakes and smoothies make up the beverage menu. Coffees from Black Sheep are also available to take away, though the friendly company and Abode’s relaxing environment makes it so easy to linger here a little longer.
