Montrachet Paddington
Montrachet is Paddington’s very own piece of Paris. The decor and setting epitomise the classic French brasserie with frosted bay windows, red leather booths, a marble bar and crisp white tablecloths.
Its authenticity can be attributed to its founder, Thierry Galichet, a French native, wine buff and much-loved chef. Since opening, Montrachet has become an institution.
The impeccable service and masterful food has people waiting patiently (sometimes months) for a booking. In early 2015 Galichet handed over the reins to husband and wife team, Shannon Kellam and Clare Wallace.
Shannon, one of Brisbane’s best chefs and a longstanding fan of Montrachet, continues to pay homage to Galichet’s classic menu including the buttery baked snails and steak frites with béarnaise sauce. On Friday nights, a "Supper Club" offers a five course degustation prepared by Shannon and Michelin-trained chef, Olivia Meli.
The wine list continues to be provided by Galichet’s wine importing business and includes many drops from the Montrachet AOC region of Burgundy. These wines are made entirely from chardonnay grapes, considered to be some of the world’s best examples of dry whites.
