The good times keep on turning at The Mill on Constance. The bar space in this grand brick tower – originally a flour mill, then a World War II barracks – was an unused office and entrance foyer when friends Gillian Letham, Gerard Hartnett and Lorcan McCarthy discovered it in 2013.

Their first step towards creating an authentic all-Australian beer bar was to restore the building’s character, exposing bricks and stripping back 102-year-old floorboards. In its newest incarnation, The Mill has cast off the shackles of its industrial past and replaced with lashings of beer and cheer.

There’s a comprehensive selection of bottled and tap craft beers from Australian brewers such as Young Henrys, Mountain Goat and Green Beacon. You can get the full hop experience here, from pale ale and pilsner to porter, stout and wheat beer. Four rotating taps are changed up after just a single keg.

There’s a decent wine list, $14 cocktails and pub grub that includes burgers, ribs and popcorn chicken sliders. With all this plus an events calendar and upstairs function room that holds up to 150 people, this place is anything but run of the mill.
