Features
Purple Palm is a minimalist, Palm Springs-inspired gin bar and pocket distillery flanked by six-metre palm trees. Envisioned as an everyday drinker, its 60-seat space is fitted out in crisp concrete and stone and arranged in front of an island bar with a wall of gin.
Collaborating on the drinks is award winning South Australian gin distiller 78 Degrees. You'll find a mix of signature gin and tonics, signature cocktails – including a list of signature Martinis – and classic cocktails, most of which are built on 78 Degrees gin.
There’s also a short, sharp list of Australian wines and a selection of beers that includes Brisbane brewers Slipstream, Ballistic Beer Co and Aether.
You might have begun to pick up on a theme: every product at Purple Palm is Australian, right down to the mixers and the garnishes, which are grown in the South City Square garden.
For food, you can order a clutch of dishes from South City Wine across the way: think Australian cheeses, charcuterie and tins of anchovies and sardines. Otherwise it's tacos and Mexican street snacks from Los Felix
