QAGOMA has announced plans to begin reopening to the public later this month.

The Queensland Art Gallery will reopen on Monday 22 June with the Gallery of Modern Art following six weeks later, on Friday 7 August.

The galleries will be limiting visitor numbers to ensure social distancing, and enhanced hygiene practices are in place, including hand-sanitiser facilities and increased cleaning of public areas.

QAG will be hosting two exhibitions when it reopens: a major retrospective of the work of North Queensland artist Mavis Ngallametta called Show Me the Way to Go Home, and Errant Objects, which draws on works from the galleries’ acclaimed holdings of contemporary Asian art.

The QAG Store and QAG Cafe will also reopen on June 22, with patrons seated in the cafe required to provide contact details.

And while GOMA won’t reopen until August, the GOMA Store is currently open from 10am to 4pm daily. GOMA Bistro, on the river side of the gallery, is running a pop-up providore 10am to 2pm daily.
