Under new ownership, the once divey old pub has had a lush makeover. On the menu? $12 spritzes, house-made pastas and stone-baked pizzas. And upstairs? New boutique accommodation.

The views remain as mesmerising as ever, but the waterside diner has shelved its rustic dark-wood aesthetic in favour of bright white tables and pretty pastel pinks. And while its beloved Billy’s eggs – chilli-buttered poached eggs with tomatoes and mint on sourdough – remains, you’ll also find beef-brisket eggs benedict with yuzu hollandaise, and an update of its social media-famous waffles.

It might have moved, but you can still get Ocello’s famously gooey gorgonzola (scooped from the wheel with a spoon) and a creamy burrata flown in directly from Puglia for your next cheese party. Plus, join its cheese club.

A home-brew hobby has culminated in the opening of the nanobrewery and taproom, with its house IPA, lager and amber ales on tap alongside brews by Yulli’s, Sunday Road and more.

Visit for a delicate mille-feuille – soft yet crunchy layers of puff pastry topped with a vanilla-bean crème – as well as an aromatic fig, honey and walnut cheesecake, and spanakopita and moussaka made by the owners’ mums.

An impressive fit-out paired with experimental flavours (and a cocktail list that includes five types of Margarita) makes St Alma a welcome addition to this beachside ’burb.
