The Pot has reopened as Nido Pasta Bar.

These days restaurateur Simon Kardachi is synonymous with respected city joints Press* Food & Wine , Melt , Osteria Oggi , Proof , Maybe Mae and Bread & Bone , but The Pot Food & Wine pre-dates them all. The restaurant started life as The Melting Pot in 1999, before getting a more casual rebrand in 2008.

Even after all this time, the spot remains a Hyde Park destination, pulling a crowd with its cracking tasting menu and bustling bistro vibe. Perch at a long table, bar seat or one of the more intimate tall tables for two. Then consider the extensive wine list of French and Italian varietals. You’ll see what we mean.

Expect delicate but accessible menu items such as smoked eel and creme fraiche rillette with pickled beetroot on toast; steamed pork buns seasoned with coriander root, garlic and ginger and fried to order; and childhood classic, Vienetta, made with vanilla parfait, tempered dark chocolate and salted caramel.

Breakfast is available on weekends and best accompanied by a Dirty Bloody Mary.
