Features
Since opening on Henley Beach Road back in 2017, Pixie and the Hawk has become a Torrensville favourite, thanks to its winning combination of homey atmosphere, excellent coffee and inventive breakfasts.
To eat you'll find creative takes on classics. The menu is vegan and vegetarian-friendly and changes often, but past favourites have included a French-toast-croissant hybrid; and an almond falafel dish with hummus, roast tomatoes, beetroot, cucumber ribbons, kasundi (an Indian tomato relish) and Fleurieu labneh. Elsewhere, you might find anything from Pavlova French toast to buttered leek and raclette cheese on toast.
Coffee, by Five Senses, is more conventional. A range of styles, from filter to espresso, are on offer. There's also a variety of cold coffee options, as well as a good line-up of teas and other drinks – hot and cold.
The fit-out is made up of vintage furniture reworked and spruced up by the cafe’s owners, such as old classroom tables. It all adds up to create a comfortable, relaxing atmosphere. A trip here feels more like going to a mate's place for a catch-up than anything.
