It would take you at least six days criss-crossing Kangaroo Island to visit each of the producers featured at Island Pure’s stall in the Central Market. The Kangaroo Island stall showcases more than 360 products from 35 producers.
A dozen of these producers had never stocked their goods outside KI until the Central Market stall launched in late 2014. Among these 12 are Latitude 36 (honey-mustard dressing) and Flavours of Petite Provenance (olives and herb-infused olive oils).
On display is an entire island’s worth of produce: honey, haloumi, marinated feta, sticky figs, free-range eggs, yoghurt, wine and more.
From KI Spirits, there’s gin flavoured with the island’s distinctive bush botanicals, and honey and walnut liqueur. It’s made by mixing drunken, honey-soaked walnuts into rich vanilla ice-cream.
Extravagance-seekers can also pick up Kangaroo Island Green Lip Abalone, or Island-specific spice blends courtesy of Kangaroo Island Source.
