Features
Falling somewhere between a pasta bar and steakhouse, Oliveti in Glenelg is a 100-seat Italian joint from the team behind top Adelaide venues Bar Lune, Dolly and Spread. The name is a nod to Villa Oliveti, a tiny town in Abruzzo in central Italy. As for the menu, it’s skirting all corners of the country with some wider Mediterranean influences thrown in for fun.
Your meal might kick off with hash browns topped with blue swimmer crab and bottarga, followed by duck ragu rigatoni. For a main, it could be a half roast chicken with romesco, or a steak (scotch, porterhouse, ribeye) served with smoked tomato and bone marrow. No Italian meal is complete without wine, and Oliveti is pouring a concise, Italian-leaning list.
The ambience at Oliveti ties in with the coastline just a couple hundred metres away through a light, bright, laid-back space with arches and curves, white tiles and terracotta tones. Service is relaxed and embraces the playful spirit that comes with Italian food culture.
