Nonna and I is decorated plainly, with the mural of a green vineyard. It’s filled with the scent of fresh herbs. It’s small, intimate, familiar. It feels like a grandma’s kitchen.

Owner and chef Khalil Rashwan is the kind of guy to greet you at the door with a handshake and a smile. Rashwan’s career has taken him from Egypt to Switzerland and to Manhattan’s Little Italy. There, he learnt old-school Italian cooking, which he combined with his new-school ideas and applied to Italian restaurants in Malaysia and Australia.

Nonna and I has a large and varied menu, full of classic and contemporary dishes, from pasta to parmigiana. Rashwan is particularly proud of his tender flounder Milanese. Vegetarians, vegans and even people on a paleo diet are well looked after. From the attached Pizza Art and I, you can also take home a pizza or have one delivered.

In the tradition of large Mediterranean family meals, Nonna and I will also cater for large groups and functions.
