Features
Monica is a retro-inspired neon dream by Makan co-owners Ben Liew and Karl Tang. Whether you’re wanting a drink before dinner, a full meal or a midnight snack, the team has you covered. And crucially, its kitchen is open until 2am on Friday and Saturday nights.
Menu highlights include thick-sliced salmon sashimi, swimming in wasabi buttermilk, and a smoked corn salad with miso, grated cheese and scallions. Charcoal-fired cooking is on show through yakiniku-style Wagyu skewers.
Another standout is the duck breast, which is dry-aged in house for 14 days before being lightly smoked and paired a sweet umeshu plum dressing.
The cocktail menu is amped up with Hong Kong flavours. There’s a ginger Coca Cola Old Fashioned, and a Tom Yum Martini which is zhooshed up with a house-made coriander vermouth and zingy chilli oil.
