Features
Fung Shing is a no-nonsense Chinese restaurant which stands out thanks to its extensive range of classic Chinese comfort foods, fast service and late closing time. It’s the best spot (and maybe the only spot) in central Adelaide to get congee after 2am.
That’s made it a haunt for the hospitality crowd in the busy Gouger Street precinct. The menu features standbys like honey chicken and sizzling Mongolian lamb, but there’s a great line-up of congees and a thoughtful amount of vegetable dishes. Fung Shing’s kitchen also has a reputation for cooking almost anything you feel like off menu (within reason). It’s a crowd-pleaser.
Also crowd-pleasing: the restaurant is BYO and corkage is only $5 a bottle. Otherwise there’s a decent wine menu (mostly South Australian whites), as well as the standard array of beers and soft drinks.
