Tell Henry has been a favourite in Adelaide’s specialty coffee scene ever since it opened in 2015. But it’s also the city's most nomadic cafe, moving temporarily from its original Kent Town digs into an old Norwood Beaurepaires workshop in 2021. But owners Sharon Mackay and Brad Bonar have come full circle back to Kent Town, and this is Tell Henry’s forever home.

The space – a former tapas restaurant – looks a lot more polished than Henry’s previous incarnations. But the Industry Beans double ristretto, Bad Boy bacon-and-egg roll and friendly service are all the same. Grab-and-go options are still king, among them could be a mortadella and provolone roll, and sweet stuff like choc-fudge brownies, and almond croissants from Jennys Bakery in Eastwood.

With a fit-out designed by Skein in collaboration with Mackay, a landscape architect, the cafe opens to a beautiful courtyard facing a leafy part of Rundle Street, with a large tree shading the tables. When the weather’s right, it’s the perfect place to bring your pooch, catch up with friends, or both.
