Waking up in the morning to fresh barista-brewed filter coffee doesn’t sound too shabby. Add vineyard views, a sheep named Dorothy, an Alpaca called Alf and a couple of roaming chickens, and you’ve got countryside bliss.

Saffy Ossa and her husband Dom (who co-owns and runs Dawn Patrol Coffee) have opened boutique container accommodation on their Kangarilla property, right next door to the roastery. The idyllic retreat bucks the trend of traditional B&B accommodation that already populates the surrounding wine region.

With a background in carpentry and building, Dom has crafted the space with exposed pine and industrial fixtures. A clean but homey feel matches the vibe of the cellar door.

The container is to the side of their property, down a secluded dirt track surrounded by vineyards – about as private it gets. There’s an expansive deck overlooking pristine wine country and chooks, alpaca and sheep roaming below.

An kitchen means you can cook your own brekkie. The couple stocks the kitchen with eggs from their hens, and Saffy makes a fresh loaf of bread on arrival.

The rooms are fitted with everything a home barista needs. Better yet, stay over the weekend and mosey down to the cellar door for a fresh brew in the morning.

Container 65 has a minimum two-night stay.
