Yoga Studios, Wine Bars and Live Music: How Adelaide Finds Its Balance
Words by Emily Taliangis · Updated on 19 May 2026 · Published on 30 Apr 2026
Health used to be something we thought about reactively – a check-in here, a reminder there. Now, it’s part of the everyday. From what we eat to how we spend our time, the small decisions add up.
And while routines help, wellbeing isn’t one-size-fits-all. Maybe it’s hot yoga followed by a bowl of hot chips, knowing they can co-exist in healthy balance. Or taking a nap because you’ve been overwhelmed, instead of forcing your way through the decision paralysis. Some days it looks like an early swim before work, on others, it’s carving out time to slow down, or catch up with friends midweek. Just as often, it’s knowing when to step back – to rest, reset or do nothing at all.
Because in a city like Adelaide, feeling well doesn’t come down to step count – it’s built from the small, everyday rituals that help you feel your very best. And you need health insurance that supports the kind of wellness you need. ahm understands that wellness is simply whatever makes you feel good: whether that’s through fitness, mindfulness, creativity or connection.
Below is a guide to places and activities across Adelaide that support a more balanced approach to feeling well.
Fitness, movement and recovery
Social media can sometimes make us feel like we need to be a full-on gym rat to take fitness seriously, but that’s not the case. There are so many different ways to get our bodies moving, and you don’t necessarily need to break a sweat to feel the difference.
Yoga’s is a good place to start. At Equilibrium The Holistic Living Project, classes span yoga, meditation and personal training for people of all abilities. There’s also an introductory offer: 14 days of unlimited yoga for $29.
Other picks include reformer Pilates at Studio Spring, indoor bouldering at Urban Climb and dance classes at Quicksteps – no partner required.
After all the moving and grooving, head to the Japanese-inspired sauna and recovery lounge, Onsen. There you’ll find a six-person traditional barrel sauna; two full-spectrum infrared saunas for private use; four contrast baths (two hot, two cold); and compression therapy boots. Not only will your body and mind feel spectacular afterwards, you’re bound to have some great convos with other Onsen-goers while there.
Holistic wellbeing and creative pursuits
Wellbeing isn’t limited to movement. Creative outlets can be just as restorative.
At Fauna Studio, you can try your hand at ceramics, with one-off sessions or longer courses available. For something more observational, Cerulean Studio runs life-drawing classes suitable for all experience levels.
Jewellery-making is another option. Workshops at The Mill Art Gallery guide you through carving jeweller’s wax to create your own solid silver ring.
Neighbourhood hangouts
Wining and dining’s not just about food and drink. Restaurants, bars and cafes are places to connect with people and recharge your batteries.
Whether solo or with mates, head to Adelaide’s iconic Exeter Hotel for a solid dose of community connection. The mosaic tables on Rundle Street and seats in the beer garden are almost always packed, and the menu covers the essentials including a reliably good steak sandwich under $10 and weekly specials like curry night.
Over in Goodwood, Good Gilbert sits opposite the Capri Theatre, making it the perfect spot for a pre- or post-movie drink and feed. It’s the kind of place you could easily spend all day in.
Community activities
Whether music or sport is your idea of the perfect community activity, Adelaide offers both. The Grace Emily and The Gov are where some of the most epic gigs happen. Upcoming acts include Vanessa Amorosi, Peter Combe and the Newspaper Mama Band, and Ruby Fields.
On the sport front, footy season brings a steady run of AFL and SANFL games. With Gather Round approaching (April 9 to 12), expect events and activations across the state – an easy way to spend time with others, whether you’re there for the game or the atmosphere.
