*Street ADL on Rundle Mall has been replaced by Blackwood. It will re-open at Henley Beach in 2016.
At the first incarnation of Street ADL, owner/chef Jock Zonfrillo (ex- Magill Estate) showed how native ingredients can create a uniquely Aussie taste. It was a more casual take on the work he does at Orana, and when Street ADL opens at its new home, it's likely the concept will stay the same.
The original menu was as striking as you’d expect from a Scotsman and honorary Australian. The chef has dedicated much of his time in Australia to indigenous communities, attempting to understand their culture and the use of native ingredients.
Thus, South Australian Lamb was smoked over eucalyptus; pumpkin showed up with macadamia and saltbush; and there was a crocodile hot dog topped with potato skins. But where Orana is about innovating within rigid, hyper-local boundaries, Street ADL is about inventing a local street food that can match it with the world’s best.
