This may come as no surprise, but Eggless’ desserts are indeed that – eggless. Many of them are also vegan, lacto-vegetarian and low in cholesterol. But this late-night eatery (on most days it opens at 8pm) isn’t reserved for those with special diets.

More often than not, you’re welcomed into Eggless by owner Ken Sim, who creates an inviting atmosphere. The menu changes monthly, but crowd favorites do tend to return. In winter, you’ll find warmers such as puddings and pies. In summer, pavlovas, panna cottas and ice creams feature.

There are always some classics, too – sticky date pudding, tiramisu, apple pie, and so on – plus a few authentic Asian options such as black sticky rice or bubur cha cha sago (pandan infused sago pearls, coconut cream, sweet potato, taro and coconut).

If you have trouble deciding, there are dessert platters with several options for you to try. Each bite looks like it belongs in a magazine, with sauces, syrups, and a myriad of edible garnishes adorning each dish.

It’s a cosy and quaint store, and because of its limited hours, don’t be surprised to see a line out the door. But be sure of one thing: Eggless is worth the wait.
