Peter De Marco has been involved in some of Adelaide’s most popular dining spots over the past two decades, including Pizza e Mozzarella Bar, Borsa and Chicken & Pig. De Marco also part-owns Chicco Palms in Brooklyn Park and Valentino’s in the city.
Super Americano is De Marco’s first solo venture. It’s a casual brunch spot by day and a restaurant by night, specialising in homestyle Italian eats.
The four-day proved and woodfired bread is the star of the show. Rip and swipe it through everything on the menu, from gooey poached eggs at breakfast to Calabrian braised oxtail at dinner. It’s also used for a panino stuffed with six-hour baked beef ribs, Russian salad and a salsa-verde-style sauce.
Other specialties include baccala (a dried salted cod dish) and De Marco’s signature Neapolitan-style pizzas. Seasonal dishes are scrawled on chalkboards and might include garfish crudo and Venetian-spiced pickled octopus. Pair them with wines by the glass or classic Italian cocktails or beers.
Curated Italian wines from Calabria, Sicily and Sardinia are available to purchase by the bottle, along with imported Italian pantry items.
