This late-night, nautically themed fixture on Gilbert Place is setting sail for a week-long whisky pairing with The Balvenie designed to expand the palate, in celebration of World Whisky Day (May 19).
Focusing on the classic Speyside drop, The Balvenie and Hains & Co is encouraging guests to explore your dram in both classic and innovative styles.
Option one is The Balvenie whisky tasting flight; it combines 5 whiskies from The Balvenie including The Balvenie DoubleWood 12 and the rare Tun 1509 Batch 4. This year marks the 25th anniversary of The Balvenie’s “DoubleWood” process. Perfected by The Balvenie’s malt master, David Stewart MBE, the process sees the whisky acquire a rich and smooth taste from maturation in two distinct types of wood.
Second choice is a miniature pairing flight, matched with three canapes designed by Hains & Co chefs. At a ticketed event on May 15, The Balvenie Ambassador, Ross Blainey, will walk guests through these pairings in person. There will also be 2 extra special whiskies to taste on the night and the opportunity to pair your whisky with a specially selected Cuban Cigar chosen by the venue’s resident cigar experts.
With the bar open until 2am every day of the week, there’s plenty of time to settle deep into a leather-cushioned nook and contemplate.
Spaces are limited for the special event at 7pm on May 15th. Book by calling (08) 8410 7088.
