Consider this your official warning: Valentine’s Day is this week. And while we’re firm believers that you should be making dating a priority year-round, we know deciding where to go to for date night can be a real dilemma.
To take the guesswork out of it, we asked a string of local chefs where they’d go for a date or celebratory dinner (cos every date night is a special occasion).
Muni! The food is beautiful and made with so much care.
Simon Ming of Odé
Magill Estate Restaurant. I go one or twice a year, usually for a birthday or anniversary. I love the view and location for sunset. Scott Huggins’s food is always exceptional – it’s one of the best restaurants in Adelaide.
Kane Pollard of Topiary and Ondeen
Loc Bottle Bar is a big winner. They source the most outrageous sake, and always have a random lucky-dip chef preparing delicious plates that always hit the mark.
Josh Cooke of Chianti and Rozelle’s
If it’s a special occasion, I am heading to Muni. The service is always great, making anybody feel welcome without being intrusive, and the food is amazing. There’s a fantastic selection of seafood.
I’d say Jennie on Peel Street is a good choice, I did my first collab event with the team there, it’s a great vibe, casual but cool, and has a fantastic wine and snack menu to work your way through during a date.
Cain King of Stem
Pastel Wine Bar. It is a cool spot with great food and a sweet wine list. The perfect casual spot to wine and dine and enjoy the atmosphere.
Bain Stubbs of Station Road
Belles Hot Chicken for bottomless wings.
