South Australians will be able to stand up while drinking outside at licensed premises from midnight Friday (or 12.01am Saturday), Premier Steven Marshall announced in a press conference today.

The government has also relaxed restrictions to allow “vertical consumption” and dancing at private functions in licensed premises for up to 150 people.

SA Police Commissioner Grant Stevens said these events would require a defined guest list and a Covid marshal.

The density requirement of one-person-per-two-square-metres is still in effect.

SA Health strongly encourages people and businesses to practice physical distancing to minimise the spread of coronavirus. If you have Covid-19 symptoms, even if mild, get tested. Wash your hands regularly. If you’re concerned about visiting businesses or public spaces, or have questions about self-isolation and coronavirus testing, see the latest advice from SA Health.
