Step off King William Street and ride the elevator up to the eighth floor. 2KW has one of the best vantage points in town – look out over Elder Park as the fireworks go off at midnight. You’ll get a glass of Pol Roger or Asahi on arrival. Then feast. There’ll be grazing tables, seafood, charcoal-grilled meat, and a dessert bar.

At chef Sean Connolly’s Adelaide Casino restaurant, a decadent four-course dinner awaits. Emphasis on decadent: there’ll be gold-leaf quail, locally sourced seafood, a mushroom “orgy”, the signature duck-fat potatoes, and a chocolate tart. Choose from two separate sittings. Those at the first will receive a glass of Ruinart Blanc de Blanc on arrival; for late eaters there’ll be a cocktail to start and a glass of bubbles at midnight.

Feeling fancy? Ring in the New Year here. Hennessy Rooftop Bar has a chic glass ceiling, elegant lounge area and a city outlook that’s pretty hard to beat. There’ll be a glass of Perrier Jouet waiting for you at the door, plus canapés. You’ll have exclusive access to the bar between 7pm and 10pm. The resident DJ will be spinning as midnight strikes.

If you’re looking to go all out, here’s where to do it. This event at the Convention Centre is black tie – dress sharp. Your ticket includes a four-course dinner, plus a local cheese table, fine wines, live music and views over the River Torrens as it glistens with fireworks.

Sick of the stock-standard New Year’s Eve rigmarole? Here’s something completely different. Start your night at the thrilling stage adaptation of Alfred Hitchcock’s 1959 film North by Northwest. Then hit a ’50s-style post-show party in the Adelaide Festival Centre’s Banquet Room, which overlooks Elder Park. The best part: the cast will be attending – in costume and character.

BRKLYN is going old school this New Year’s Eve. It’s promising the house party to end all house parties. Expect paper-cup punch, drinking games, beer buckets, by-the-slice pizza, fried chicken and DJs spinning the best throwback tunes from the ’90s and noughties. Take note: there’ll be prizes for the best dressed.

This is Electra House’s biggest New Year’s Eve party yet. If you want to splash out, $135 will buy your entry and a premium four-hour drinks package. Adelaide’s sparkliest LGBTQI bar is preparing to out-do itself this year. Prepare for The Glitter Ball. There’ll be glitter, confetti, neon lights and brand-spanking-new performances by Mary’s Divas.
