What a year. Whether you loved every minute or you’re itching to wave it goodbye, let’s give 2019 a good send off. We’ve rounded up some of the best New Year’s Eve events around town.

Andre Ursini’s contemporary European bistro, Orso, will pull out all the stops on New Year’s Eve. A curated six-course chef’s menu and three-hour drinks package (offering free-flowing Louis Roederer NV Brut and Pikes pilsner) will set you back $350, or there’s a four-course feasting menu for $140, with drinks available to purchase on consumption.

The four-course feasting menu is $140, or it’s $350 for the six-course chef’s menu and drinks package. Book online.

Willmott’s Gastronomia

If you’re looking for something slightly more low-key, Ursini’s Willmott’s Gastronomia next door will also be open on New Year’s Eve. The deli-small bar hybrid will hold a non-ticketed event, kicking off from 4pm, during which you can reserve a table for drinks and snacks.

Open from 4pm as a non-ticketed event. Email eat@willmotts.com.au to reserve a table.

Enjoy arguably the best view in town for the fireworks, with a glass of Bollinger Champagne on arrival and dinner service with canapés and food stations all evening. Sounds good, doesn’t it? Tunes from DJs Anth W, Maison and Señor Sanchez will be the cherry on top at 2KW’s last party of the year.

Tickets are $150. Book online.

Leigh Street Wine Room

Settle into the CBD's snug new bolthole for an impressive six-course dinner by chef Nathan Sasi. The menu will be similar to the bar's "chef's selection" option – with a glass of Diebolt-Vallois Champagne on arrival – so expect crowd favourites such as the house-made buffalo curd and honeycomb, house-made charcuterie and the pigs head fritti with Zuni-style pickles. Pair them with a bottle or two of cracking low-intervention wine from here and abroad.

Tickets are $100. To book email hello@leighstreetwineroom.com or phone 0499 555 461.

La Boca Bar & Grill

A three-course Argentinian feast awaits at La Boca Bar & Grill. Think smoky, slow-cooked meat roasted over an asador grill (a sort of open firepit), and a buzzing Latino after-party from 11.30pm. Time to get your dancing shoes on.

Tickets are $100. Book online.

The Gallery

The Gallery’s gorgeous rooftop is an ideal place to spend a warm evening. On New Year’s Eve, it will welcome DJs and offer wine, sparkling, beer, cider, juices and soft drinks with canapés as part of its $120 package.

Tickets are $120. Book online.

The Wheatsheaf Hotel

Music for “dancing, big hair and long nails” is being promised at this live disco extravaganza. Ring in the new year with Max Savage and the False Idols and The She-Gees, and enjoy the Wheaty’s impressive range of craft beers, uncommon whiskies and wines from smaller producers. Sequins are very welcome.

Kicks off at 8pm. Free entry.

The folks at BRKYLN are not letting their dreams be dreams: they want a tropical island for New Year’s Eve, so a tropical island they’ll create. The bar will convert their balcony into a summer paradise, complete with a blow-up pool and slushie machines, tropical beats, and plenty of pineapple and watermelon drinks on hand. Wear your tropical best, and you might even win a prize.

Kicks off at 6pm. Free entry.

Electra House

Electra House doesn’t mess around when it comes to New Year’s Eve: they like to throw a serious party and this year is no exception. For $50, you’ll get express entry, late-night snacks, two drink tokens on arrival and an Espresso Martini. If you’re after extra bang (for some extra buck), $135 will get you a four-hour drinks package on top of the other perks.

Tickets are $50, or $135 including a four-hour drinks package. Book online.

Rhino Room

Head to the Rhino Room if you want to dance. No Scrubs is throwing a party dedicated to the sounds of the ’90s and early ’00s (think Britney, Spice Girls and N*Sync), and tickets will set you back less than $20. If the ’90s and early noughties aren’t your speed, Transmission is throwing a party in the Rhino Room basement. Expect to hear all the usual suspects, like The Strokes, Tame Impala, Arctic Monkeys and Vampire Weekend.

Tickets to both No Scrubs and Transmission are $13.33. Book online for No Scrubs here or Transmission here.

Hains & Co

Adelaide's favourite nautical-themed bar is teaming up with gin kings Never Never Distilling Co. for a New Year's Eve gin and Champagne party. Choose between the "sailor's package" (which gets you entry, Never Never's Triple Juniper Gin and tonic on arrival and late-night snacks for $20) and the "captain's package" (for entry, a drinks package including sparkling wine, Never Never gin, Never Never cocktails and Naughty Lass session ale and late-night snacks for $99) and board the good-times Hains & Co ship.

Tickets are available online.
