If you’re the friend that orders last and still hasn’t made up your mind by the time the waitstaff comes around, here’s one for you.

The team behind Ruby Red Flamingo has opened a pop-up restaurant called Spaghetti Crab, which does what it says on the tin. It offers just one dish – you guessed it – spaghetti with crab. Specifically, South Australian blue swimmer crabs. It come with an extra serving of sauce in an iron pot. No entrees, no sides.

There’s a little more choice on the wine list: a red, a white and a sparkling (montepulciano, pecorino and prosecco DOC).

The pasta recipe belongs to Carmela Ventura, wife of Ruby Red co-owner Vic Ventura. “I have cooked this recipe for my family and our friends for over 50 years and I am so excited that I can share our family tradition with Adelaide,” Carmela said in a press release.

“While it looks like a simple meal of spaghetti and crab, the flavours, the sauce, the perfect spaghetti, combined with friends and family sharing in the meal, remind me of our family table.”

At Spaghetti Crab, that table is topped with paper, so you needn't worry about flying crab shells and red-sauce spills. The restaurant is open for a limited time in the former Beach Bum site. Beach Bum has relocated to Hove.
