A bloomin’ good time

Thebarton eatery Bloom is throwing a block party with live music, makers and producers markets, laneway bars and food trucks on Sunday April 10. There’ll be beers from Bowden Brewing and gin from Imperial Measures Distilling, plus pizzas by Anchovy Bandit, vegan toasties and pastries by Later Gator, a grazing board by Lockwood General, and sweets by Sassi Ice Cream. You can also take home pantry goods, including produce from Nice Pickles, Moss Brew, Westside Mushies, Continental Taralli, Pepita Organic, Wattle & Wheat, Gordi Babka and Basque by Leo. Plus, local wares from Pineapple Vintage, See Someone Studio and more. All backed by music from Siberian Tiger, Atlantic Street Band, the Busseys, Malibu Drive and Uke Death Squad. And entry is free. 11am–5pm.

Puck Futin
South Australian producers Barossa Valley Brewing, Prancing Pony and Route 9 Distillery have teamed up on a limited-run beer – a “feisty” American red ale called Puck Futin – using an award-winning recipe from Ukraine-based Pravda Brewery. The special-edition brew (with a grassy citrus aroma and flavours from Columbus and Cascade hops) can be ordered via the Barossa Valley Brewing website. Prancing Pony has already sold out of its pre-order allocation, but will have more at its Adelaide Hills brew shed in late April (and you can message the team on Facebook or Instagram to try to reserve some stock). All proceeds will be donated to charities in aid of humanitarian and medical support in Ukraine (including Doctors Without Borders), and to Ukrainian refugees in Australia.

Hey Bianca takes three
Local pizzeria Hey Bianca has opened a third location – at West Beach – following the launch of its vintage food bus at Summertown Studio and its flagship hole-in-the-wall kitchen on Pulteney Street. The new site, located just 50 metres from the beach, is turning out its woodfired Neapolitan and Sicilian pizzas for dinner seven days a week – and lunch on Fridays. Get it delivered, dine on-site or grab one to-go and elevate your beach picnic. (Orders can be made on-site or through the Hey Bianca app or online, and new and existing customers will receive $10 off their first order from the West Beach location.)

Get to work

Speaking of Summertown Studio, the retail and events space this week launches a long-table workshop series featuring five different art forms and five different makers. Make your own belt with leatherworker Bella McRae of Glad; hand-build your own vase with Mornings Ceramics; or make your own miso paste with former Masterchef contestant and passionate fermenter Mandy Hall. You can also take part in a cooking class with Live Nutrition, exploring food, mood and your carbon footprint, or an acrylic painting class with Pippin Ellis. All workshops include Hither & Yon wine and pizza by Hey Bianca (or food you make in class). Book here.

Burgers for days

The crew behind Seafaring Fools has introduced a new hole-in-the-wall burger joint – Fools Burger – turning out American-style burgs from a street-facing window at the cafe. There’s a smash burger made with a brisket patty or a fried chicken burg and all the trimmings, sandwiched between a seared brioche bun. Plus, fries, tots and boneless wings. Order online or place an order over the phone for pickup or delivery. More information here. And if one burger brand isn’t enough, the team behind Nugg Lyf is hosting Burgerlicious, a three-day burger festival at Morphettville Racecourse, from April 8 to 10. There’ll be burgs by Gang Gang, Burgertec, Nugg Lyf and Rik’s Grill, plus beers from Brewboys, wines from Forage Supply Co and gins and cocktails from Seppeltsfield Rd Distillers. Entry is free.
